Wall-mounted solar lights are the easiest way to add light to a porch, garage, shed or fence without wiring.
- Panel position. Under porch roofs and on north-facing walls (in the northern hemisphere), choose a light with a separate panel you can place in the sun.
- Brightness and sensor. Decorative sconces give a soft glow; motion-activated wall lights give brighter light when needed.
- Shed lights usually have an indoor lamp with a cable to an outdoor panel, plus a pull cord or remote.
- Gutter lights clip to the gutter edge. Check they fit your gutter profile and will not trap leaves.
- House numbers. Lighted address signs help visitors and emergency services find your home; choose large, high-contrast digits.
Pick an IP65-rated housing for exposed walls. For security coverage, see motion and security lights.
